VARIETIES OF SLOW
2005, performance

VARIETIES OF SLOW was conceived as a film performance work with 17 distinct versions. They all use the same three reels of footage, each containing a similarly photographed and framed image of books on a shelf in black and white, color and with a red filter. The way that these reels are projected drastically changes with each version. Originally performed at home for invited guests, only four of the iterations have been performed to date (2014).

Version #3 was presented as part of my participation in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. Curator Chrissie Iles invited me back in 2008 to stage Version #14, which took the form of a month long performance resembling an installation.
